The legendary delinquent Kunio is trading his school uniform for the robes of the Monkey King! Arc System Works has officially announced that River City Saga: Journey to the West is bringing its high-octane brawling action to the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch on June 4.
A Legendary Tale with a River City Twist
Inspired by one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature, Journey to the West, this latest entry in the River City Saga reimagines the epic pilgrimage to India through the comedic and action-packed lens of Kunio and his friends.
In this retelling, the “hot-blooded” Kunio takes on the role of Sun Wukong (The Monkey King). After being sealed away for 500 years, he is freed by the monk Tang Sanzang to embark on a perilous 108,000-mile journey to retrieve sacred scriptures.
